Wall-E: Pixar's Wall-E was the surprise package of the year. You go in to watch a robot sci-fi thing and you come out after a romance. The story of Wall-E, the last robot on earth who falls in love with EVE, a robot from another planet is not just gripping and entertaining, it is a through and through romance to the core. This one will definitely touch your heart.

Slum Dog Millionaire: Slum Dog Millionaire is not just the story of a new India. Rather, when you watch the movie, you will realize that the film has won all the accolades for the whole spirit that shines through the story of Jamal Malik, the slum dog kid who wins the Indian version of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire to earn an unbelievable 20 million rupees. Worth watching for the drama, the unbelievable scenes of the Indian slums, and the childhood romance.

Marley And Me: The screen adaptation of a novel by the same name, Marley and Me is a worth watching treat for animal and dog lovers, families and kids. Showing the capers of the lovable yet disciplinarily challenged Labrador Marley, and how he changes the lives of his owners John and Jenny, this is a fun yet sensitive humor movie that will make you both laugh and cry.

The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button: The Curious Case of Benjamin Button is one of Brad Pitt's better works till date. Based on a F. Scott Fitzgerald story about a man who ages backwards, of course with weird consequences! The movie is very different from anything that has been served to us before (Forest Gump included) and is a must watch for the drama and the emotions.

Doubt: Another must watch 2008 movie, this film starring Dustin Hoffman and Meryl Streep is full of drama, emotional conflicts and terse scenes. The story showcases the conflict Hoffman and Streep, which is played out as Father Flynn(Hoffman) challenges the archaic rules and regulations of the school that Sister( Streep) has cherished and guarded through the years.

The Dark Knight: The Dark Knight surpasses its comic book origins as it showcases the struggles between a morally confused Batman and an inhuman and eerie Joker. Worth watching for a lot of things, especially for Heath Legder's last performance before his death.

Other films that you should not miss out on are Chop Shop, Ballast, Milk, Frost/Nixon, Happy-Go-Lucky, Frozen River, The Reader, Revolutionary Road, Shotgun Stories, Gran Torino and Wanted for all the drama, action, thrills, value and entertainment that these movies brought to 2008.
